Barrie, Canada.

"These products are too good to be true; the nutrition and everything...they speak for themselves." These are comments made by recently retired National Hockey League Star, Bernie Nicholls. Born in West Guilford near Haliburton, Ontario, Bernie had a highly productive career in the NHL with his best season posting 150 points. He now resides in San Jose, California. Bernie's current venture will see him apply his high energies to skyrocket an emerging Canadian Company producing healthy and delicious foods, cosmetics and supplements.

"I've had numerous discussions with Kelly Smith and Greg Herriott, the owners of Hempola; and the people I know who we've talked to are all really pumped. This is going to take off," states Nicholls. Close friend and NHL team mate Joe Murphy introduced Bernie to Hempola in June, 2003. Bernie Nicholls is now playing on a team which stands for health, nutrition, sports performance and the environment. "What a great project to focus your energies on," says Nicholls with a gleam in his eyes. This coming weekend the Canadian Health Food Association show is being held in Toronto. Three More Feathers for Hempola's Cap.

Barrie, Canada.

Just a few short months after Hempola's participation at the American Music Awards, the company has seen more success and accolades. According to Kelly Smith of Hempola, "the company' sales are growing at a rate of 50 percent or better...these on-going achievements and awards certainly help us grow and get the positive hemp message out there."

The first of three of these achievements involves Hempola's Healthy Brownies. This innovative product received the "Best Baked Good-People's Pick" award at Toronto's Good Food Festival. Other award winning companies include: High Liner, Club House, Strub's and Ocean Spray.

Following this, Hempola launched its DEET free, all natural insect repellant--West-a-Nile-ate. Positive feedback came pouring in and in formal testing done this summer at the University of Guelph, showed a 98.6% performance rating. The final report states, "West-a-Nile-ate provided greater then 95% protection from blood-seeking mosquitoes in a field test using human subjects..." Hempola also promotes the product as an excellent rejuvenation lotion for skin: a combination of repellency and skin care.

Hempola was also on hand and included in the gift bags handed out at the Toronto Film Festival's opening of Woody Harrelson and Ron Mann's new movie, GO FURTHER. There's also an interesting overlap to this. In a conversation between Woody Harrelson and Kelly Smith of Hempola at the films opening night party, Harrelson commented on how well West-a-Nile-ate worked for he and his family in a somewhat "emergency" situation.

Jungle Tested in Belize - Safe and Healthy Lotion for the Great Outdoors; Will Give Peace of Mind to Many.

Barrie, Canada;
After a year in research and development which included 4 months of rigorous testing in the rain forest jungles and coastal regions of Belize, Central America, Hempola Valley Farms has commenced distribution of its newest product, Safe and Healthy Lotion for the Great Outdoors (former name: West a-Nile-ate(tm) is pending approval from Health Canada; Pest Management Regulatory Agency). The product is currently in full test mode in Ontario, Canada. The product is DEET free and safe for children. The active ingredient is a secret blend of seven steam distilled essential oils... all derived from natural plants from around the world.

Instead of potentially harming skin, as often reported, when using standard DEET based products, this new product is actually good for skin. The Hempola oil base with its high concentration of Omega essential fatty acids are scientifically proven to rejuvenate damaged skin cells and deeply moisturize skin. The product also contains aloe vera, another known natural ingredient good for the skin. The directions on the product's package state: shake well, apply as needed; frequency of application may vary depending on conditions. Apply like a body lotion to exposed skin. Hempola reports excellent results in Belize and here in Ontario.

Here's some recent consumer feedback, "Hi!  I recently purchased one of your products, West a-Nile-ate lotion.  My husband and I have been using it on a regular basis and have had excellent results!  We spend a lot of time working in our gardens/yard, and live in an area where we are plagued with mosquitos and black flies.  Your product, West a-Nile-ate, is the ONLY product we've tried over the years which actually REPELS these insects!!  Thanks so very much! We are telling everyone about your product."

Hollywood's Delight in Hempola Spurs More Interest.

While Chad Kroeger of Nickelback stood back-stage at the 30th annual American Music Awards, a camera veered his way. He held up his new bag of Hempola High Protein Pancakes and smiled a very big smile (photo attached). Chad and the rest of Hollywood have been pleasantly introduced to Hempola. "The gifts were a huge hit with the celebrities... your product got a very positive response," wrote Michelle St. Marie of Hollywood Connection in a letter to Greg Herriott of Hempola. The letter goes on to say, "we look forward to having you involved with future events." So much so, that Hempola is now destined to be included at a dinner and live auction benefiting The Elton John AIDS Foundation and Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation.

The event, "An Evening At Home with the Osbournes," will be taking place March 19th, 2003 at the home of the Osbourne family and will be hosted by Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne and Elton John. There will be a special performance by Tony Bennett and the guest of honour for the night will be Dame Elizabeth Taylor. The event will also be honouring Justin Timberlake. Other celebrity guests attending include Kate Hudson and Elizabeth Hurley with more to be announced.

Hempola's inclusion at this event is even more appropriate. "One of the key health benefits from our products is increasing immunity by improving T-cell function," notes Kelly Smith of Hempola. "AIDS patients would dowell to eat Hempola. Hopefully this message gets across at the event."

Ontario Hemp Alliance Commercial Hemp Symposium 2003
"5 years, 50 lessons and 500 Opportunities the History and Future Of Industrial Hemp Use in Canada"
April 12 1pm to 5 pm
Wolf Performance Centre, London Ontario

The Ontario Hemp Alliance (OHA), in recognition of the 5th year of commercial hemp production regulations, announces the "Commercial Hemp Symposium 2003" to be held in the new Wolf Performance Centre in downtown London, Ontario, on April 12 from 1 to 5 pm. The symposium hosts some of the world’s experts on commercial hemp, including local legend Geof Kime of Hempline, hemp food experts Greg Herriott of Hempola Valley Farms and Ruth Shamai of Ruth's Hemp Foods. Helmut Becker, Professor Emeriti’s from the University of Western Ontario and world famous hand made paper artist, will speak on the art of hemp as well as Federal and Provincial government representatives, like our own Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food new crops expert, Mike Columbus, will be on hand to add their perspective. No stone has been left unturned to bring together an interesting crop of the brightest and the best from the commercial hemp field.

"The rise and growth of hemp businesses in Ontario over the past 5 years is a good example of the new triple bottom line -- social, environmental and commercial -- in action, " says Louise Hollingsworth, President of the OHA. "Ontario Hemp companies create healthy products that help create healthy communities. This is not only good business and good farming, but is simply common sense. For these reasons, industrial hemp is something worth celebrating, worth acknowledging and worth learning more about. That is why we are having this event in London in April this year."

The Ontario Hemp Alliance (OHA) was founded when a group of hemp growers, processors and manufacturers realized the great potential of producing and marketing hemp.  Beginning in 1998 with a series of meetings an association grew that would recognize and meet the needs of this young and evolving industry.  The OHA's mandate was defined as "a membership driven non-profit organization dedicated to the development of a viable, vertically integrated hemp industry in Ontario."  Currently and for the past three years the OHA has benefited from funding from the Small Projects Initiative - A program for innovative agricultural and agri-food projects Administered by the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
Specifically, the goals of the OHA are fivefold:

- To raise public awareness of hemp's uses and benefits
- To facilitate analysis and development of markets for hemp products
- To facilitate research and development of hemp based processes and products
- To promote the sharing of information and interaction between members
- To act as a lobbyist for the hemp industry

More and more we are hearing about industrial bio-fibers. "Hemp fiber has found its way into more vehicles in the past year, and, chances are good that many people have a natural no woven fiber product in their car and don’t even know it," said Geof Kime, president of Delaware based Hempline and symposium speaker. "Hemp fiber has been found to be very cost-effective, with high strength and can be used as an excellent reinforcement fiber for replacing glass fiber, at a much lower price. The increasing commercial availability of hemp fiber and the demand for low cost, high strength fibers has resulted in new applications for hemp, particularly in automotive and construction products."

Also on the bill is Ruth Shamai the brains behind Ruth’s Hemp Foods. Ruth’s Hemp Foods is now proudly a distributor of a machine that allows you to make your own Hemp Milk. This ultra nutritious version of hemp boasts a profile to open the eyes of the health industry gluten free high protein excellent source of your essential fatty acids hemp food is a growing industry.

The symposium will begin promptly at 1 pm and will present a hemp overview, Agronomics, Regulations, industrial fibre uses, artisan fibre uses, hemp grain food, and a panel discussion on the future of commercial hemp. Time has been scheduled for questions throughout. The Farm Credit Corporation is buying all attending a cup of hemp coffee to enjoy while pursuing informative displays during intermission.  Master Spinner Diny Warren and perhaps even Helmut Becker will present fibre demonstrations while Fast Fuel gives you a chance to munch on some really delicious hemp food.

Many of our members have stepped up to help this event become a reality. Our sponsors include: Cool Hemp, Fast Fuel, Farm Credit Corporation, Hempline, Hempola Valley Farms, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ruth's Hemp Foods and Spirit Stream Trading Company.

The door prize of 10 bags of hemp chips, donated by Hempline, is suitable to bed your horses or your flowers. Replace peat moss with the hemp chips in your spring gardening. Using hemp chips will help save a wetland and not influence your soils ph level.

Junior Achievement of London has partnered with the OHA to manage the events ticket sales in one easy phone call (519) 439-9706. Limited tickets are available for a dinner following the symposium from the Directors of the OHA featuring the Honorable Larry Dupery on "the Canadian Hemp Association its role and ours".

Prestigious Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Awards Hempola 'Best of Show' in New Organic Section.

Toronto, Canada.
The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is the largest indoor agricultural winter fair in North America. "The Royal," as it is often referred to, has impressive attendance figures: 3,000 cattle, 1,300 horses and 300,000 people (including 40,000 school kids), to name a few. This highly prestigious event runs for 10 days until this Sunday, November 17th. People from around the world will come to see this incredibly large and diverse event.

Steeped in tradition since the fair began 80 years ago, the competition is also large and diverse... everything from sheep-shearing to the largest pumpkin is staged, judged and awarded. This year for the first time, the Royal introduced an "Organics" section and it too was judged. To the extreme delight of its owners, Hempola took the top prize for best display. Hemp food is the main focus of the display, and Hempola uniquely featured its High Protein Pancakes in combination with Beland Organic Maple Syrup from Quebec. The combo is labeled, "Canada's Newest Breakfast Tradition." Also on hand for sampling is Hempola's newest product... its Healthy Happy Brownies and its full line of award winning salad dressings.

"We're very surprised and very delighted," comments Kelly Smith, one the Founders of Hempola. "This wonderful fair is a distinctive event where a huge number of average Canadians visit to experience the diversity of agriculture. The reaction to our products and now this great award are excellent indicators that the mainstream public is starting to realize the true value, flavour and nutrition of Hempola foods."

Agricultural hemp production is relatively new in Canada. In fact it's only four years old, since the country re-introduced industrial hemp in 1998. As it turns out, Canada is quickly becoming recognized as a world leader in the production of hemp and especially hemp foods.

Flax Seed Prices Skyrocket Due to Drought -- Hemp Now a Better Option.

To most health enthusiasts, flax seed oil is a staple in their diets. Flax oil is demanded for its abundance of "good fats" or  essential fatty acids or as many know them by: Omega 3 and 6. For many flax eaters, the recent drought in the Canadian prairies is very bad news... flax prices are doubling and in some cases tripling! And this means flax oil is as well. Hemp seed oil just may be the better option today.

Kelly Smith, Co-founder of Hempola has been touting hemp's superiority for years; since 1995 to be exact. "Hemp oil is the richest source of Omegas (the good fats)... 80 percent concentration. These Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids also need to be properly balanced. Hemp oil has the closest balance to that found in human body chemistry. Flax oil is imbalanced and goes rancid very quickly. Hemp on the other hand stays fresh much longer because it has naturally occurring antioxidants." As for flavour and taste, "ask many of the chefs we work with. Most people have a hard time swallowing flax. Hemp oil is truly gourmet."

Smith goes on to comment, "since we introduced Hempola cold pressed hemp seed oil in 1995, we've really struggled with price competition. Now, not only is hemp superior in taste and nutrition, it's also a lower price."

Health enthusiasts do not necessarily have to pay more, simply switch to hemp.

Canadian Hemp Industry Flourishes as Companies Post Strong Financial Results

Barrie, Ontario, Canada;
Hempola Inc., announced today record revenue increases at 40 percent above its previous fiscal year results. As well, the company has almost completed its first six months of its current fiscal year and is tracking a strong 27 percent above its prior 40 percent increase. Greg Herriott, President and Founder comments, "We are thoroughly delighted with our financial results. Our company is experiencing a very healthy growth rate... a rate which is most likely parallel with the growth of the overall hemp industry in Canada."

Albeit, the Canadian hemp industry, like most emerging industries, has had its share of peaks and valleys. It seems however, the industry is leveling to a sustainable and positive rate of growth. Mr. Herriott notes, "The industry is seeing its first signs of maturity. More and more consumers are learning about many of the positive effects and attributes of hemp. Hempola has certainly had its share of ups and downs... we are now starting to see a much more consistent, month to month increase and we feel these increases are in direct proportion to the rate of awareness building in the marketplace."

August Festival will be as Unique as Hemp Itself

Barrie, Canada.

Cannabis sativa is the latin name for hemp. Translated it means "useful plant." Experts peg 25,000 potential uses of hemp for a multitude of various products... from food, to fibre, to fuel, paper, construction materials, medicine, and on and on and on. Today several of these products are being made in many parts of the world, and Canada is becoming an active leader in hemp production and research.

An event which takes place this August 10th and 11th, will attract many of the emerging hemp industry companies and wares and present them to the public in a very fun and educational atmosphere at a working hemp farm. Visitors to the Hempola Family Farm Festival will be able to walk along educational "trivia" trails in the hemp fields, take hay rides, sample many nutritious and delicious hemp foods, attend seminars, converse with experts and hemp manufacturers, check out building materials in use and have lots and lots of fun...  live music, crafts, beer and wine, entertainers and much more. Your kids will also be entertained and amused in the separate children's area.

It's being held right in the hemp fields... outside, under huge tents, inside history's first hemp straw "round house" and a renovated 1858 heritage barn. Being held between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, Saturday August 10th and Sunday August 11th; Hempola Valley Farms is located adjacent to Highway 400 just north of Barrie at 2133 Forbes Road, R.R.#1 Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

2nd Annual Hemp Farmfest Taking Off

With only one month to go, the second annual Hempola Family Farm Festival (August 10 and 11, 2002) is shaping into a unique and enlightening two day carnival occasion geared to families and people of all ages. Following the event's debut in 2001, this year the activities and attractions have nearly doubled in size. Here are some of the highlights you can expect:

Park right at the farm and pick up your wrist band for the weekend ($10 for adults, children under 5 free, ages 6 to 14 and seniors $5.00). The gates open at 10:00 am. Settle in with a Hempola pancake breakfast then enjoy a wide array of options --

Take a hay ride through the hemp fields and your kids will be entertained in the children's tent full of surprises, crafts and entertainment. There are planned demonstrations of hemp products, a hemp food village and seminars on hemp nutrition and cooking. Tour history's first hemp straw 'round house' as well as a fully restored heritage barn. A separate tent will also accommodate an interesting cross-section of vendors featuring arts and crafts and many, many hemp products. Plus, a music stage will be home to five different bands featuring a wide array of musicians from the area. This year the people at Hempola Valley Farms have also installed a "trivia trail," a serene walking path through the hemp fields with many stops along the way where plaques describe some interesting and somewhat surprising facts and figures about hemp. They've definitely planned something for everyone.

The Hempola Family Farm Festival is an innocent, informative and high quality event held right alongside the Hempola hemp fields... real hemp crops growing for real hemp products; from salad dressings to roof shingles. In attendance at last year's festival was the Honourable Lorna Milne, Canadian Senator. Here's what Senator Milne had to say, "The Hempola Family Farm Festival is as unique and diverse as the uses of the hemp plant itself. My husband and I had a fantastic time at last year's festival. I look forward to seeing everyone again this year and chatting over a hemp ice cream cone!"

Major sponsors to date include: Health'N Vitality Magazine, Hemptown Clothing, Friendly Stranger, Canadian Natural Retailer Magazine, The New VR, Rock 95, Star 107, The Healthy Shopper Magazine, Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and Embassy Food Specialties. Hemp Straw 'Round House' Bale Raising Going Ahead as Planned.

In only four days, North America's first hemp straw structure will commence its "bale raising." This traditional event amongst straw bale construction enthusiasts is always the pinnacle and focal point in "raising" a building. This one touts the fact it is the first made from hemp straw.

Saturday, May 18th is the date and Hempola Valley Farms, just north of Barrie, Ontario is the site. Home to the Hempola operation, it is a full working hemp farm where hemp is grown and processed into a variety of interesting products. Hempola's straw "round house" is an extension of its products and research. Along with the square bales of hemp straw used in the walls, the building will bare other hemp products ranging from paints and stains to roof shingles, to fabrics and concrete. Longer term plans will focus on the development of a hemp bio-fuel to heat the structure in the winter and potentially propel the farm's implements. The house is 7,000 square feet in an octagon shape and will also incorporate a passive solar heating system. And it has many other hybrid construction features adding to its uniqueness and structural integrity.

Kelly Smith, co-founder of Hempola states, "the 'round house' is a perpetual project for us. We'll utilize as many hemp products as we can as the building evolves. There are several products commercially available now and many more in various stages of development. This building will allow us to experiment and fine tune research and product development."

Very much a pioneer in the emerging hemp industry in Canada, Ms. Smith goes on to describe, "The 'round house' and Hempola Valley Farms is a site where everyone is welcome. The hemp industry is young and vibrant... it's also incredibly clean for our environment. When people visit and learn at our farm they take these messages, products and information outward for others to experience. We're very proud of what we do at Hempola and want everyone to know about it. The Canadian hemp industry has an excellent future."

The May 18th bale raising will welcome all visitors. The designer/builder of the house, Steve Nunn will be on hand along with many hemp industry representatives to provide tours, presentations and answer questions.

Hemp Straw House Schedules Momentous 'Bale Raising' for May 18th.

Barrie, Ontario.

At the north end of Barrie in the village of Dalston, Hempola Valley Farms has been working for the past year at one of its most interesting hemp projects... the construction of an octagon 'round house' using hemp straw bales. Unique in its design and numerous details focused on environmental responsibility, the structure is deemed the first hemp straw building in North America, maybe the world.

And hemp straw bales aren't the only things made from hemp going into this project. Kelly Smith, Co-founder of Hempola comments, "The list of hemp materials we're using keeps rising. Along with the hemp straw bale walls, we're also incorporating the new Enviroshake roof shingles made using hemp fiber and our new all natural HempWood finishing oil with many different colour tints. We'll be applying HempWood to several surfaces like wood and bamboo floors, kitchen cabinets, concrete sealant... and we're also very close to a blended Hempola varnish to add a shiny protective coating to many of these surfaces. Also on the list is hemp fiber stucco, numerous hemp fabric applications and few other little surprises. Our longer term research will focus on such things as biofuel for heating. Imagine us growing our own heating fuel and processing it right at our farm."

Hempola Inc., a company primarily involved in producing food and personal care products made from hempseed is building this structure to further demonstrate the many potential uses of industrial hemp. Anyone interested in the attending the hemp 'bale raising' on May 18th is welcome. Contact Hempola at 1-800-240-9215 for more details.

Farmers Learning to Grow Hemp Better is Paying Off for Consumers Too.

Barrie, Canada.
With only four harvests to their credit since industrial hemp was given the green light to grow in Canada, farmers working with this new crop have had their share of frustrations; but it's starting to pay off. Hempola Valley Farms recently announced a promising collaboration with a company needing hemp fibre, hence more money for farmers by "dual cropping," Hempola buys hempseed and the fibre is sold to a company making roof shingles. Today, Hempola announced a twenty percent drop in retail price of its flagship product, HEMPOLA Cold Pressed Hempseed Oil.

Kelly Smith, Co-founder of Hempola states, "all indications tell us that in the next few years we should be experiencing close to twice the yield of hempseed as we and our farmers learn how to best manage this new crop. We have to recognize that four years of crop experience with hemp is very little. Other crops like corn and canola have had anywhere from forty to over one hundred years of cultivation." When asked about the price reduction of Hempola oil, Smith goes on to say, "before 1998 when hemp became legal grow in Canada, Hempola was importing seed from China. Our landed cost was over one dollar per pound. The market price for domestic Canadian grown hempseed today is about one third the cost... and Canadian farmers are making a good profit compared to most commodity crops like wheat and soybeans. In 1996 a bottle of Hempola was around twenty-five dollars. Today, the same size bottle of Hempola is anywhere from nine to twelve dollars, depending on where you shop." The economic future of hemp is becoming brighter for Canadian farmers.

New Agricultural Industry Collaboration Between EnviroShake and Hempola Announced.

Barrie, Ontario.
It appears to be an excellent matching of two product manufacturers to bolster the emerging industrial hemp industry in Canada. Wellington Polymer Technology Inc. (WPTI) of Chatham, Ontario, with its award winning product -- EnviroShake roof shingles will team up with Hempola Inc. of Barrie, Ontario -- with its extensive line of hempseed derived food, personal care, supplements and industrial products. For the first time, the potential of industrial hemp and its many uses from one crop, will begin as a pilot project shared by two companies successfully marketing finished products.

The project will initially investigate methods used by WPTI to determine how best to process and use the hemp fibre that is left after the hemp seed has been harvested by Hempola. This fibre source has been identified as a suitable additive in the EnviroShake Process (tm). The project is also intended to demonstrate the value-added diversification to hemp growers of providing an outlet for the waste industrial hemp fibre material, and providing WPTI with a reclaimable, sustainable and renewable agricultural fibre source. The project will initially focus its crop production in Ontario.

Kelly Smith, Co-founder of Hempola comments, "we put a great deal of time and energy into developing Hempola's award winning products, which are purely hempseed derived. Hempola crops are grown specifically for seed, yet our crops also produce one of the strongest natural fibres on earth. It only makes perfect sense to utilize this part of the crop as well. We are very excited about this new alliance with another industry innovator and leader like Wellington Polymer."

Top Ranked Triathlete Eating Enormous Amounts of Hempola Tests Clean.

Barrie, Canada.
Top ranked Canadian Triathlete, Harry Barnes eats HEMPOLA Cold Pressed Hempseed Oil to increase his athletic performance and speed up his recovery rates between workouts. Right now Harry is at the peak of his training and he is consuming as much as 6 ounces of HEMPOLA per day -- this translates to 12 times the typical consumption rate. Along with the hempseed oil, Harry states, "I'm also eating 3 cups of hempseed flour per week and 2 cups of HEMPOLA pancakes per week. Plus I wash and shower using Hempola soap 3 or 4 times a day."

On February 27, 2002 Harry Barnes had his urine analyzed for cannabinoids (THC). As a top ranked athlete, Harry is concerned with such a test and its potential impact on his standings and reputation. If he tests positive for THC, Harry could face disqualification and/or long term suspension. On March 5, 2002 the results were reported... NEGATIVE. Harry is free of any THC and clear to use HEMPOLA for the long term to boost his performance.

Kelly Smith, Co-founder of Hempola comments, "we were confident this test result would be favourable. HEMPOLA products continually test negative for THC. We only hope more and more athletes, even at the national and world levels, become aware of the significant benefits they receive by eating our products. For some reason, many athletes faced with testing are paranoid to eat HEMPOLA. Harry Barnes has proven otherwise."

Hempola Products are Laboratory Tested and Contain NO THC -- Safe and Allowable for U.S. Shelves.

In the wake of an announcement made by a Canadian producer of hemp products yesterday, in which the company stated its intention under the North American Free Trade Agreement, to seek compensation of a least $20 million as a result of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) ruling to ban hemp foods in the U.S., a statement comes from Hempola Inc., also a Canadian hemp producer. This statement is made by Greg Herriott, President of Hempola, "it is very important to note, the DEA ruling would make hemp products illegal if they contain THC (the psychoactive ingredient found in Cannabis). HEMPOLA products have been openly exported to the U.S. from our operation in Barrie, Ontario since 1996 without any noticeable interruptions. HEMPOLA products consistently show 'NO DETECTABLE THC' in third party laboratory test results. Hence, HEMPOLA products, even if this proposed ruling were applied, are safe and allowable in the U.S. These laboratory tests are conducted by an approved laboratory under the stringent Health Canada Regulations for the Production of Industrial Hemp in Canada."

Mr. Herriott goes on to comment, "unfortunately what we're seeing, due to the inaccurate reports surrounding this situation, is a definite decline in our U.S. sales. People in the U.S. are afraid to eat Hempola food, with all its excellent nutrition and flavor, because they fear they're potentially breaking the law. It extends all the way down the distribution chain -- consumers are afraid to eat, retailers are afraid to stock their shelves and distributors will not warehouse products which will not sell. On the positive side, Hempola sales are increasing at a very positive rate in Canada. Canadians are embracing Hempola with open arms... it tastes great and it's incredibly good for you."

Newly Launched HempWood -- a Paint Industry Product Revival

Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
After more than two years in research and development Hempola Valley Farms officially launched its first hempseed oil based industrial product today... HempWood. It's a pure, natural and safe finishing oil, primarily used for different wood applications, and also performs well as a lacquer on other surfaces like metal and painted materials.

Hempseed oil was widely used in the paint and coatings industry up until the 1930s, when hemp fell into disfavor due to its unjustified association with marijuana. "We knew from our earlier research, that hemp oil was a candidate for industrial applications," states Kelly Smith, co-founder of Hempola Valley Farms, "this new finishing oil opens up a whole new set of opportunities for our exciting emerging industry."

HempWood provides a relatively clear coating which enriches and protects wood grains. The product has produced excellent results when applied to exterior walls and decks, furniture, antiques, interior floors... even canoes, paddles and as a clear lacquer on metal and painted surfaces. The reconstructed heritage barn at Hempola Valley Farms has had two coats applied to its new pine siding, "it's a glowing golden beacon in the village we're settled in." comments Kelly Smith of Hempola. Research and development of HempWood was partially funded by Canada's National Research Council.
